BDO South Africa is offering a SAICA-accredited Trainee Accountant position in Johannesburg Illovo starting in 2028, where successful candidates will complete a 3-year training contract to achieve SAICA competencies and register as a Chartered Accountant while gaining hands-on audit experience across a broad range of clients from JSE-listed companies to owner-managed businesses.*

Responsibilities

• Participating in audit engagements by assisting with the planning, execution, and finalisation of audits for various clients.
• Performing substantive testing, analytical reviews, and control testing to gather sufficient audit evidence.
• Preparing audit working papers, financial statements, and reports in compliance with SAICA standards.
• Building and maintaining professional relationships with clients and providing exceptional client service.
• Applying sound professional judgement and contributing to diverse audit teams to deliver high-quality work.

Qualifications

• Honours, PGDA, CTA, or equivalent level qualification at a SAICA-recognised university.
• Keen willingness to learn with energy and aspiration to contribute to the audit team.
• Strong technical ability with high attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills and ability to relate to clients.
• Ability to work within diverse teams, strong organisational ability, and commitment to self-development and growth.
