The In-Service Trainee: Processing program is a 12-month learnership registered with the FoodBev SETA, designed to provide Chemical Engineering students with valuable workplace experience. This opportunity allows trainees to apply their academic knowledge in a practical manufacturing environment, focusing on production processes, quality standards, and operational efficiency. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, professional growth, and the development of technical skills that are essential for building a career in chemical engineering and processing industries.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monitoring and controlling processing operations in line with production requirements
• Support the implementation of quality and safety standards within the processing environment
• Apply theoretical chemical engineering knowledge to practical production challenges
• Collect and analyze data to improve efficiency and reduce waste in processing activities
• Document and report on processing tasks as required by supervisors
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth and effective production flow

Qualifications

• South African citizen aged between 18 and 35
• Grade 12 with Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy passed at a minimum of 40%
• Proficiency in English and at least one other South African language at 40%
• Currently studying towards a National Diploma in Chemical Engineering
• Unemployed and not previously completed the same qualification or learnership at another company
• Candidates who meet Employment Equity guidelines are preferred
