Description

The UNFPA South Africa Country Office is offering a 6-month internship programme for three interns in Pretoria. The programme includes opportunities in Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), HIV, Gender and Adolescent & Youth programmes (2 interns), and Operations & Administration (1 intern). Interns will support programme planning, coordination, communications, monitoring, administration, budgeting, reporting, and stakeholder engagement while gaining practical exposure to development work within the UN system.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning and coordination of stakeholder meetings and inter-agency forums
  • Compile programme summaries, briefing notes, talking points, and communication materials
  • Support internal communications and programme coordination
  • Assist with workshops, training, logistics, and implementation monitoring
  • Support programme-related administrative activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (or currently enrolled in a bachelor’s/postgraduate programme)
  • Recent graduates must start within one year of graduation
  • Interest in development work
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Ability to work in multicultural environments
  • Some experience with development agencies (including volunteer work) is advantageous
  • Strong initiative, sound judgment, and teamwork skills
