The company is seeking a skilled Data Scientist with a strong background in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in using advanced analytical techniques to extract meaningful insights from large and complex datasets. They should have strong command of programming languages like Python and R, as well as expertise in SQL for efficient data manipulation. The role involves providing business insights through statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modeling, simulation, and optimization.
The candidate will design advanced analytics models that answer key business questions or discover opportunities for improvement, increased revenue, or reduced costs. They will analyze model results, interpret findings, and communicate these findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. They will recommend solutions for creating revenue and reducing costs/loss based on model results.
The candidate will work closely with Data Analysts to assist in answering complex business problems that require statistical analysis. They will also monitor internal and external customer needs, stay current with retail industry and Business Intelligence trends, and stay updated with developments in advanced analytics and methodologies.
Qualifications include a degree in applied statistics, mathematics, operational research, economics, data engineering, risk management, or equivalent industry training and experience. An advanced degree (honours or masters) is preferred.
The position is permanent or 12 months contractable, with a hybrid work environment (4 days onsite, Fridays are remote). The location is Cape Town and the work environment is hybrid (4 days onsite, Fridays are remote).
