Liberty offers Actuarial Science bursaries to full-time students starting their second year, covering tuition, accommodation, meals, travel allowance, support, networking opportunities, and vacation work. The purpose of the bursary is to provide specialist actuarial support that enables sound commercial advice through the application of probability and investment theory and related statistical tools. Minimum experience is required, with 0-1 year experience in a similar environment and minimum qualifications being Bachelor's Degrees and Advanced Diplomas [NQF Level 07] in Mathematical Sciences. Additional minimum qualifications include being an Actuarial Science Graduate. The process involves applying relevant research methodologies, tools, and techniques to gather information, providing specialist advice and support in areas of accountability, performing required actuarial and other analyses for management reporting, and staying abreast with the latest actuarial development tools and techniques. Accountable for the execution of specialised work, the individual should actively solve problems, determine root-cause, apply solutions in line with guidelines, plan for task execution, and advise on improvements related to their area of specialisation. The individual should also ensure understanding and adherence to customer service delivery and Treating the Customer Fairly (TCF) principles. They should adhere to specified standards, policies, and procedures to prevent potential losses or waste related to their area of specialization. Learning and growth are essential, with the individual interacting proactively with others for continuous knowledge sharing and integration of new knowledge. They should contribute positively to their area-specific knowledge improvement and continuously assess their performance. Governance and compliance procedures are also important, as well as adhering to Actuarial Guidance Notes and any other applicable regulations. Technical competencies include research and information gathering, quantitative skills, modeling, statistical and mathematical analysis, behavioral competencies, organizational and attention to detail, interpersonal effectiveness, problem solving and analysis, teamwork and cooperation, relationship management and networking, and customer orientation.
