The South African Department of Labour (SDA) is seeking applications for Senior Management Services (SMS) positions. The salary for these positions is R255,450 per annum and the centres are located in various provinces. The job requirements include a National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)/ Matriculation, 0 to 6 months' experience, knowledge of the Unemployment Insurance Act, Unemployment Insurance Contributions Act, Public Service Regulation, Public Service Act, Batho Pele principles, Departmental policies and procedures, Customer care, and skills in communication, listening, computer literacy, customer relations, and decision making. The duties of these positions include receiving and assessing all Unemployment Insurance Claims on the relevant system, registering employers and verifying employee declarations, executing all payment of approved claims, attending to enquiries relating to processed claims, and performing administrative duties. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification during the selection process. Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by an evaluation report issued by the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) (only when shortlisted). The Department reserves the right not to make any appointment(s) to the advertised posts. For SMS posts, the successful completion of a SMS Pre-entry programme (Nyukela) as endorsed by the National School Government (NSG) is required. Candidates must have proof that they have registered for the Pre-Entry Certificate and completed the course. The cost for Nyukela is at the applicants' own expense. All shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical competency exercise that tests relevant technical elements of the job. Following the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools. The successful candidate will be expected to sign a performance agreement.
