The Department of Labour is seeking a Senior Management Services (SMS) candidate to fill a position at the Provincial Office in Mmabatho. The salary for this position is R552,081 per annum, with the focus on promoting equity in the workplace. The job requires a three-year National Diploma (NQF 6) or an Undergraduate Bachelor Degree in Environment Health, Occupational Health, Hygiene, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and four years' functional experience in Health and Hygiene Inspection/services. The candidate must also have a valid driver's license and be knowledgeable about department policies and procedures, Batho Pele Principles, Public Service Act and Regulations, OHS Act and Regulations, OHS standards, and OHS Management System. The duties of the position include providing input into the development of Health and Hygiene policies, ensuring the implementation of OHS strategy for the Department of Labour in terms of OHS Legislation, conducting complex inspections for Health and Hygiene regularly, conducting technical research on the latest trends in Occupational Health and Hygiene within Identified sector, providing support for enforcement action, and preparing reports for legal proceedings. Shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical competency exercise that tests relevant technical elements of the job. Following the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools. The successful candidate will be expected to sign a performance agreement.
