The Tourism and Hospitality Management Internship provides an immersive opportunity for individuals to gain practical experience in the intersection of tourism, hospitality, and international relations. As part of DIRCO, interns will work within teams responsible for promoting South Africa as a top global destination, focusing on both the domestic and international tourism sectors. This role involves working with various stakeholders to coordinate events, manage hospitality services, and assist in governmental efforts to attract international tourists. Interns will also learn about the diplomatic and cultural aspects of tourism, understanding how South Africa leverages its natural beauty, culture, and infrastructure to foster international goodwill.

Responsibilities

• Interns will assist in the planning and coordination of hospitality events
• Handling administrative tasks related to tourism development
• Liaising with international tourism bodies
• Other duties include managing guest logistics for official functions
• Contributing to projects that support international tourism and hospitality diplomacy

Qualifications

• Candidates must hold a relevant qualification in Tourism, Hospitality Management, or a related field
• They should possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong ability to work under pressure, especially when handling events of national importance
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are critical for engaging with diverse stakeholders
• A genuine interest in tourism, coupled with a curiosity about how international relations influence the industry, will be beneficial
• Familiarity with South Africa's key tourism attractions and international tourism markets is also an advantage
