BDO South Africa invites applications for ACCA Trainee Accountants to join its External Audit division. This 3-year training contract offers a path to becoming a Chartered Certified Accountant with exposure to various commercial sectors, hands-on client work, and support from experienced mentors. You will play a key role in delivering exceptional audit services to clients ranging from JSE-listed companies to entrepreneurial startups.

Responsibilities

• Perform audits on financial statements and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
• Assist in planning, executing, and finalizing audit engagements
• Evaluate internal controls and identify areas for improvement
• Work closely with clients to gather financial information and documentation
• Maintain strong relationships with clients and address queries professionally
• Analyze financial data and prepare accurate audit reports
• Identify discrepancies and provide recommendations for corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), ACCA, and SAICA guidelines
• Stay updated with changes in auditing standards and financial regulations
• Collaborate with audit teams, managers, and partners on various engagements
• Participate in training sessions and provide support to peers
• Actively work towards meeting the competencies required for ACCA or SAICA qualification
• Take initiative in self-learning and improving technical skills

Qualifications

• BCom Accounting Degree/Honours Degree from an ACCA-accredited university
• Auditing as a subject (preference for Honours Degree)
• Advanced Auditing as a professional module
• Must be a South African citizen
