A Citizen Analyst (Business Intelligence Analyst) focuses on understanding business challenges, are data-driven and can solve 80% of their business problems through a structured approach to analytics using simple methodologies and, in the process, aligning the stakeholders, using data exploration to find patterns and insights to provide recommendations and instigate actions and decisions. They do this by doing generating models that leverage predictive or prescriptive analytics, but their primary job function is outside of the field of statistics and analytics. They essentially bridge the gap between those doing self-service analytics as business users and those doing advanced analytics as data scientists.
