The Youth Employment Service (YES) – X2 (Peaking) placement is part of a national initiative aimed at empowering unemployed youth through structured 12-month work experiences. In this role, participants were placed in operational support positions in Cape Town and Ladysmith, focusing on high-demand (peaking) periods within various industries. Key responsibilities included assisting with logistics, administrative tasks, maintenance coordination, and general support functions during peak operational times. The programme provided participants with valuable on-the-job experience, monthly stipends, and professional development opportunities. This placement helped improve workplace readiness, technical skills, and long-term employability in both urban and regional settings.

Responsibilities

• The Youth Employment Service (YES) is part of the public-private initiative led by the Presidency to address the youth unemployment crisis in our country
• Eskom is creating work opportunities for unemployed youth in South Africa
• We invite young South Africans, who are hungry to enter the job market, to get a chance at a life-changing first work experience in our exciting energy industry

Qualifications

• Must be a South African Citizen
• Aged between 18 to 34
• Grade 12 or equivalent and/or post matric certificate/programme
