Description

The Engineering Foreman will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of all machinery and related Processing Plant equipment to ensure operational reliability, efficiency, and compliance with relevant safety standards. This role carries the legal responsibilities of a MHSA Section 2.9.2 appointment and requires strict adherence to FAMP policies, standards, and procedures. The incumbent will plan, coordinate, and oversee scheduled routine maintenance in line with production requirements, drive proactive maintenance strategies, and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes to reduce breakdowns and improve equipment performance. Key duties include managing parts and inventory, controlling maintenance costs, issuing work schedules, supervising maintenance teams, ensuring contractor compliance, maintaining organised and safe work areas, and producing accurate maintenance reports. The Engineering Foreman will also be responsible for team management, including selecting, training, mentoring, and monitoring performance of staff, while fostering open communication and ensuring compliance with the company’s SHE strategy and zero-harm framework.

  • Maintain compliance with FAMP policies, standards, and procedures
  • Plan and execute scheduled routine maintenance in coordination with production planning
  • Drive proactive maintenance and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes
  • Ensure equipment reliability and availability to support operations
  • Manage parts, inventory, and maintenance costs effectively
  • Issue work schedules and job cards to the maintenance team
  • Lead the team in line with the company’s SHE strategy and zero-harm framework
  • Develop and agree on weekly maintenance plans with the Maintenance and Process team
  • Reduce breakdown reaction time (MTTR) and increase mean time between failures (MTBF)
  • Oversee third-party contractor maintenance and compliance
  • Maintain an organised, clean, and safe work environment
  • Monitor and evaluate condition monitoring status of equipment
  • Keep accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, and repair documentation
  • Prepare month-end performance reports and cost reports
  • Ensure all breakdowns are properly recorded by subordinates
  • Select, appoint, and develop competent maintenance staff
  • Supervise, train, and mentor team members, including work-integrated learning students
  • Conduct daily meetings for two-way communication and performance monitoring
  • Maintain discipline and ensure team productivity

Qualifications

  • N3 Mechanical or Electrical Engineering subjects
  • Trade Test (MQA/MERSETA preferred)
  • Supervisory Course (advantageous)
