Kerridge Commercial Systems (KCS), a market leader in fully integrated business management solutions, is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our newly formed Group Technology function. This is a pivotal role in our strategic growth, where you will be instrumental in building our global Data Lake and crafting data pipelines that power both our commercial data products and internal business intelligence. Working closely with the Chief Information & Data Officer, you will translate commercial needs into technical reality. You will engage with stakeholders across the globe to drive revenue growth and enhance decision-making through the strategic use of data. We are looking for a candidate with a strong commercial data mindset, expertise in modern data architectures, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines and ETL processes using Databricks
• Implement and evolve the strategic data architecture for the business, including Data Lake, Lakehouse, Graph, Vector, and NoSQL solutions
• Write complex and optimized SQL queries and develop data integration workflows using Python, Scala, and Java/React
• Manage the data delivery roadmap and collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to understand requirements and deliver robust solutions
• Ensure high data quality, integrity, and performance through rigorous testing, validation, and monitoring
• Work with multi-cloud and on-premise platform architectures (AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud)

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience: Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role with a strong portfolio of delivered data solutions
• Technical Skills:
• Expert proficiency in Databricks, SQL, Python
• Strong experience with Scala and Java/React
• Experience with Oracle databases and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
• Deep understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and modern data architecture (Data Lakehouse, NoSQL)
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, outstanding verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal and organisational skills, and a keen commercial awareness
