The Technical Services Trainee Programme at Alrode Brewery is an intensive 18-month initiative designed to equip engineering graduates with hands-on technical expertise and deep familiarity with company operations and culture. Focused on Utilities within the brewery, the programme blends self-directed learning with project participation, leadership exposure, and cross-functional collaboration. Trainees are expected to master the theory and operation of Utilities equipment, apply VPO principles, and contribute meaningfully to brewery priorities. Upon completion, participants are prepared to take on immediate responsibilities, making this a powerful launchpad for a career in technical operations.

Responsibilities

• Gain a full understanding of the theory, principles and operation of Utilities equipment across the Brewery
• Participate in projects in Utilities aligned to the program requirements and brewery priorities
• Apply VPO principles to improve operational efficiency
• Diagnose systemic and situational problems and perform troubleshooting
• Engage in Utilities team structures including acting roles in identified leadership positions
• Communicate learnings and solutions across various levels of the business

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification of BSc, BEng or B-Tech in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities
• Willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced environment
• Alignment with SAB’s employment equity plan and talent requirements
