The SHER Risk Intern FTC at RCL FOODS is a dynamic internship opportunity based at the Pretoria Bakery Baking operation unit, designed for a motivated individual passionate about health, safety, and risk management. This role supports the improvement and monitoring of HSE systems, ensures compliance with ISO45001 standards, and contributes to a culture of safety through inspections, audits, and proactive risk assessments. The intern will work closely with the HSE team to maintain operational excellence and support the company’s purpose to “Grow What Matters.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support in the improvement, maintenance, and monitoring of existing management systems and standard operating procedures aligned with ISO45001
• Ensure adherence to all company HSE processes and procedures
• Conduct and compile routine safety compliance inspections and audits against authorizations, guidelines, and legislations, and create action plans for addressing areas of non-compliance
• Conduct proactive planned and unplanned safety inspections and produce reports
• Ensure fire extinguishers and first aid boxes are compliant, serviced, and unobstructed
• Conduct and review risk assessments
• Compile information for weekly, monthly, and various report submissions
• Schedule and conduct emergency response drills
• Compile information and participate in incident investigations
• Ensure that noticeboards display important HSE information
• Attend and write minutes of the HSE statutory meetings
• Assist in driving the CAPAs system for corrective and preventative actions

Qualifications

• Matric or Grade 12
• Diploma in Health and Safety or currently studying towards one
• SAMTRAC certification is advantageous
• Administration and internal compliance
• Project management
• Reporting
• Good communication skills
• Team player
