Description

The Application Security Specialist will play a critical role in securing Mukuru’s applications throughout their lifecycle — from design to deployment. The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, DevOps, and Product teams to identify vulnerabilities, strengthen systems, and ensure compliance with best-practice security frameworks. This role is ideal for a technically driven professional passionate about cybersecurity, secure coding, and innovation within a high-growth FinTech environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct penetration testing for web, mobile, and API applications
• Perform secure code reviews, threat modelling, and attack surface analysis
• Design and implement Mukuru’s annual penetration testing plan
• Coordinate internal and external security assessments, ensuring clear scope and timely resolution
• Integrate secure coding practices into the SDLC
• Provide security guidance during sprints, releases, and code reviews
• Stay informed on emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, and tools
• Research and introduce innovative security solutions that enhance resilience

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Security, or related discipline
