This internship provides exposure to communication and public relations functions within a municipal environment. Successful candidates will gain hands-on experience in public engagement, media relations, content creation, and brand management — contributing to the City’s goal of transparent, informative, and community-centred communication

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and creative support to the Business Management Support Directorate in implementing communication, branding, and public liaison activities that enhance departmental visibility and stakeholder engagement
• Assist in the design, preparation, and publication of internal media materials such as newsletters, articles, and departmental announcements
• Contribute to maintaining a consistent and professional corporate image in line with the City of Johannesburg’s branding and communication protocols
• Support the layout, design, and content development of the departmental quarterly newsletter
• Assist with public liaison, event coordination, and programme documentation
• Contribute to the preparation, publication, and analysis of content for departmental and directorate social media platforms
• Provide administrative, coordination, and record-keeping support for communication, liaison, and stakeholder management activities
• Assist with drafting internal and external communication materials, ensuring clarity, professionalism, and adherence to branding standards

Qualifications

• A Diploma or Degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations
