Sappi is offering a one-year Civil Engineering Internship at its Saiccor Mill in Umkomaas, KwaZulu Natal. This opportunity is designed for recent graduates holding a Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or B.Tech in Civil Engineering or the Built Environment. The program provides practical, hands-on experience in civil maintenance, including inspections, repairs, and contractor management, under the guidance of experienced mentors. It aims to help graduates transition smoothly into the professional environment while contributing to meaningful projects that support local supplier development and ensure safety standards are upheld.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings, roads, walkways and water channels
• Plan and oversee the implementation of repairs and civil maintenance
• Assist with determining quantities of materials to be ordered
• Monitor work of civil contractors, particularly local supplier development beneficiaries
• Instruct contractors on safety and work procedures

Qualifications

• Grade 12/Matric qualification
• Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or B
• Tech in Civil Engineering or the Built Environment
• No prior experience required
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams)
