Sappi is offering a one-year Geographic Information System Internship at its Forestry division, based at Victoria Country Club Estate in Montrose, South Africa. This program is designed for recent graduates with a degree in Geoinformatics or Environmental Science majoring in GIS. Interns will gain valuable real-world experience in spatial data management and analysis, working on solutions that support forestry operations. Guided by experienced mentors, participants will develop practical skills in GIS applications, remote sensing, and spatial queries, ensuring a smooth transition into the professional environment.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, analyse and provide solutions to spatial data requirements
• Assist in maintaining spatial data and various spatial analyses
• Provide service to Sappi business units regarding spatial queries
• Complete basic remote sensing analytics

Qualifications

• Degree in Geoinformatics or Environmental Sciences with GIS as a major subject
• No prior experience required
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams)
