The selection criteria for successful applicants include financial need, academic potential, and career-oriented study programs. To apply, applicants must upload their full academic record and fee statement for all study years. Applications must be completed properly and in full, with certified documents and SANSA or university testimonial forms from the supervisor. Bursary values are currently being revised for 2025, and individual programs are funded as follows: Honors (one year at R100,000), Masters (two years at R120,000), and Doctorate (three years at R140,000). Masters and doctoral bursars must reapply annually for continued funding. Applicants may only hold a merit award and not a combination of bursaries exceeding the amounts above. SANSA may consider providing a top-up bursary amount if the applicant meets the criteria. Support for continuing years is not guaranteed and depends on satisfactory progress in the previous year. Applications must be submitted by 30 September 2024.
