Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Midrand is offering a one-year fixed-term contract opportunity for a People & Culture Information Systems Graduate to join the Head Office team. The role involves assisting in the development, testing, debugging, and deployment of customised HR applications. Working within an agile environment, the graduate will collaborate closely with team members to ensure smooth project delivery and effective day-to-day support of HR systems. This position provides exposure to full-stack development, process improvement, and compliance practices while contributing to innovation and system optimisation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for in-house HR tools and resolve product incidents promptly
  • Assist with coding, debugging, and testing tasks in ongoing projects
  • Deliver high-quality code aligned with QA standards to ensure reliability
  • Collaborate with team members to balance workload and meet deadlines
  • Contribute to the development of new features and enhancements in HR applications
  • Participate in research and innovation initiatives, sharing ideas with the team
  • Prepare HR system functional design documents and process flows for approval
  • Write and maintain test cases for unit, integration, and regression testing
  • Identify and document bugs or issues, working with the team to resolve them
  • Suggest opportunities to improve HR processes through better HRIS utilization
  • Collaborate with HR and other departments to streamline workflows
  • Stay updated with evolving tools and technologies to enhance skills
  • Ensure HRIS compliance with data privacy laws and regulations
  • Assist in implementing and monitoring security protocols to protect sensitive HR data

Qualifications

  • Matric or equivalent Senior Certificate
  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field
  • Minimum of 0–1 year experience with programming languages such as Java, C++, JavaScript, or Python
  • Familiarity with React, Redux, Next
  • js, version control systems such as Git, and database design principles is advantageous
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is advantageous
  • Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles and experience in creating full-stack web applications is advantageous
