Description

A 12-month, full-time internship within the Business Intelligence Unit, designed for candidates passionate about using data to inform decision-making and impact evaluation in conservation. The intern will help analyze and visualize data, develop data collection tools, manage data pipelines, and support park teams in becoming more data-driven, all within a stimulating, hands-on learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop standardized dashboards and analytical reports using Microsoft Power BI and ArcGIS
  • Support the development, optimization, and roll-out of data collection tools (eg, surveys in Esri Survey123)
  • Develop and manage automated data pipelines (eg, from SharePoint to Power BI, or within Microsoft Fabric)
  • Ensure data integrity by auditing and cleaning key datasets from protected areas
  • Manage user accounts and permissions in apps, Esri tools, and Power BI
  • Research open-source datasets and the latest Tech/AI advancements for integration
  • Digitize and manage spatial datasets across the portfolio

Qualifications

  • Education: Pursuing or completed a degree in Sciences, Tech/IT, preferably in ecological/conservation sciences, informatics, computer science, or social sciences
  • Passion: A strong passion for nature conservation and supporting local communities
  • Technical Skills:
  • Skilled in analyzing and cleaning large datasets
  • Familiarity with coding languages (in order of preference): DAX & M (Power BI), R, Python, SQL
  • Working knowledge of geospatial tools, preferably ArcGIS Pro and the Esri online environment
  • Personal Attributes:
  • Keen attention to detail and ownership of projects
  • Good data visualization, reporting, and presentation skills
  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and eager to learn
  • Experience in designing training materials is advantageous
