Description

The HR Graduate will provide quality HR compliance and administrative support to the HR team while gaining practical exposure to the full employment life cycle. This includes recruitment and selection, performance management, labour relations, compensation and rewards, organisational design, employee wellness, and succession planning. The role offers hands‑on experience in HR operations, compliance, and governance, preparing the graduate for a career in human resources through mentorship, project involvement, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administration of new joiners and leavers
  • Schedule induction and information sessions
  • Update employee files with necessary documents such as signed contracts
  • Assist with leaver administration including UI19s and Certificates of Service
  • Support pre‑employment processes and post new positions on career sites
  • Sort incoming resumés and log them into tracking spreadsheets
  • Coordinate candidate interviews, psychometric assessments, and verification checks
  • Perform reference and background checks
  • Develop knowledge of HR laws and regulations and keep abreast of new developments
  • Update HR information databases and ensure compliance with document retention requirements such as POPIA
  • Track progress, deadlines, and priorities of HR projects
  • Research and collect data for HR initiatives
  • Update weekly and monthly HR trackers including timesheets, recruitment, and IR logs
  • Participate in organizing company events and career days
  • Assist with payroll processes including tracking employee movements, terminations, retirements, dismissals, transfers, and retrenchments
  • Gather payroll data such as working hours, leave records, and bank account details

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Psychology, HR Management, or Labour Relations
  • Knowledge of BCEA, LRA, EEA, OHSA, and other labour legislation
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Good reporting and analytical skills
  • Ability to learn and acquire new knowledge effectively
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Sage Payroll
