Description

The bursary targets individuals affected by workplace injuries or diseases such as unemployed COID beneficiaries with permanent disabilities, dependants of permanently disabled beneficiaries, and dependants of employees fatally injured at work (ages 17–35). Eligibility requires acceptance into a recognized South African post-school institution, including TVET Colleges, CET Colleges, and public higher education institutions. The bursary aims to assist beneficiaries in reintegration into the workforce or in acquiring skills for self-employment.

Responsibilities

• The Compensation Fund bursary is fully funded and includes:
• Tuition fees
• Prescribed study material (textbooks, course materials)
• Accommodation
• Monthly stipend
• The award is renewable every year for the duration of your qualification, provided you meet academic performance requirements and funds are available

Qualifications

• To qualify, you must submit a complete application with all supporting documents, including:
• Fully completed bursary application form (downloadable from the Dept of Employment and Labour website)
• COID Pension/Claim number
• Certified copies of the applicant’s ID
• For dependants: certified copy of guardian/parent ID or death certificate
• Proof of acceptance/enrolment at a recognised TVET, CET, or higher education institution
• Medical certification of permanent disability (where applicable)
• Students must be full-time, except where part-time study is approved for disability reasons
• Incomplete applications typically will not be considered
