Description

The Alfred Nzo District Municipality External Bursary Programme for 2026 is aimed at financially needy and academically deserving students residing within the Alfred Nzo District Municipality. The bursary supports studies in scarce and critical skills fields that align with the municipality’s service delivery and development needs. Successful applicants may be required to enter into a bursary contract with the municipality and could be expected to work for the municipality upon completion of their studies. The programme seeks to empower youth from previously disadvantaged backgrounds by providing access to higher education at recognised South African tertiary institutions.

Responsibilities

• Submit all of the following with your completed application form:
• Motivation letter
• Grade 12 certificate or latest results (if still in Matric)
• Proof of acceptance or enrolment at a recognised tertiary institution
• Certified copy of South African ID
• Proof of residence from Ward Councillor
• Parent(s) proof of income OR death certificate(s) OR affidavit (where applicable)

Qualifications

• Be South African citizens
• Reside within the Alfred Nzo District Municipality area of jurisdiction
• Be between ages 16 and 35
• Be academically deserving and financially needy
• Preferably be from previously disadvantaged backgrounds (proof required)
• Intend to study one of the funded fields at a recognised South African tertiary institution

• BSc Environmental and Water Science
• BSc Community Water Services and Sanitation
• BSc Water Resource Management
• National Diploma: Water and Science Technology
• National Diploma: Marine Engineering
• National Diploma: Civil Engineering
• National Diploma or Degree: Town / Urban & Regional Planning
• National Diploma or Degree: Disaster Management
• National Diploma or Degree: Graphic Art / Design
• National Diploma or Degree: Mechanical Engineering
• National Diploma or Degree: Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechatronics)
