The role involves developing new features to enhance the backend capabilities of our insurance policy administration platform, contributing to its evolution with best practices, emerging trends, and new technologies. The role involves architectural design and decision-making across backend components, maintenance activities, monitoring key performance indicators, and collaborating with the Product team to ensure clear development roadmaps. The role also involves supporting the incident management process, evolving the team's engineering practices, and collaborating with the Infrastructure team to ensure backend components are always available and performant.
Qualification and experience requirements include 4+ years of software development experience, strong Python mastery, Django and SQL knowledge, recent experience developing production systems on Amazon Web Services (AWS), experience creating and running containerized applications, relevant tertiary qualifications, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience in insurance or financial services, and experience in a start-up environment.
