The Department of Labour in South Africa is seeking applications for a Senior Management Services (SMS) position. The salary for this position is R376,413 per annum and the center is located at the Head Office in Pretoria. The job requirements include a three-year National Diploma (NQF 6) or Undergraduate Bachelor Degree in Bio/Analytical Chemistry/Chemical Engineering, a valid driver's license, and no experience. The job involves providing inputs into the development of Occupational Health and Safety policies, ensuring the implementation of strategies to the Department of Employment and Labour, supporting technical research on Occupational Health and Safety trends and benchmarking, providing technical assistance in the evaluation of applications for entities regularly as per the OHS programme, and providing administrative support to ensure that the objectives of the directorate are fulfilled. Shortlisted candidates must also submit certified copies of qualifications and other related documents on or before the day of the interview following the communication from Human Resources. For SMS posts, candidates must successfully complete a SMS Pre-entry programme (Nyukela) as endorsed by the National School Government (NSG). The cost for Nyukela is at the applicant's own expense. The course is available at the NSG under the name Certificate for entry into SMS and can be obtained at the NSG under the name Certificate for entry into SMS. All shortlisted candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical competency exercise that tests relevant technical elements of the job. Following the interview and technical exercise, the selection panel will recommend candidates to attend generic managerial competencies using the mandated DPSA SMS competency assessment tools. The successful candidate will be expected to sign a performance agreement.
